Happy New Year y’all! I am on my new posting schedule of Tuesdays and Thursdays since my life has been pretty busy with school, work, and creating content for Simply Stylish. If you are new here, welcome! I just updated my “About Me” page that you can read here to get to know me and what my blog is all about. Todays outfit post is a bolder look than I normally wear. Don’t get me wrong, I love color but I often choose neutral and soft colored clothing with small pops of color here and there. I actually received this cardigan as a Christmas gift from my mom, and immediately loved the colors. The fit is a little oversized which is ideal for a cardigan, and is one of those color schemes that will flatter any skin tone. Normally, orange shades will wash me out, but the orange striped are weaved with a little burgundy. It actually warmed up my skin tone…Thank goodness! If you are on the pale side like I am, you will be impressed with how well it compliments your skin. I layered the cardigan over a velvet burgundy cami for a wintery touch, and am actually on the hunt for a black and white cami for the spring months that will also really flatter these bold shades. It can be really hard stepping out of your comfort zone when It comes to fashion, so below I listed a few tips to help overcome those scary (but OH SO CUTE) fashion finds.

3 TIPS FOR OVERCOMING FASHION COMFORT ZONES

1. Start Small– The good thing about branching out is that you don’t have to “go big or go home” if you don’t want to. For example, if you have a hard time adding color to your wardrobe, start simply by accessorizing with color! Accessories are a great way for you to find the colors that compliment you without going too drastic.

2. Be Practical for you– Many times when thinking of going outside your fashion comfort zone, it can be kind of scary and intimidating. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way if you stay focused on what is practical for you. Here is what I mean- Let’s say you are wanting to include animal prints into your wardrobe, but don’t know what pieces to add. My best advice is to reach for your favorite closet items in those prints. Are you a shoe lover!? Grab you a pair of animal printed shoes! By sticking with a specific article of clothing or accessory you know you already love, it allows you to have more confidence wearing something a little out of your safe zone.

3. Try everything on that you like on the hanger- You would be soo surprised with how many clients I get everyday at work (I am a fashion stylist at Stitch Fix) that tell me they would have never tried one of the pieces I sent to them in store, but ended up loving it once they put it on! It is easy to fall in the “that’s cute on the hanger but would never flatter me” trap, but the reality is you never know if it looks good unless you try it on. My philosophy is, “It’s free to try it on, so you have nothing to loose!”
