Broken Bow, OK Travel Guide

by | Apr 29, 2021 | Broken Bow Oklahoma, Travel

Goodmorning! I am so excited to share with y’all all the details from our Broken Bow, OK trip. Konnor and I took a trip with our friends last week, and had the best time. We can’t wait to go back! First off, Broken Bow is a woodsy type of vacation, and perfect for a peaceful getaway with your spouse, friends, or even as a family. We actually stayed in a little town 15-20 minutes from Broken Bow called Hochatown, but Ive always heard the area generally referred to as “Broken Bow.” Hochatown offers more outdoorsy scenery as well as the cutest places to eat and shop. Broken Bow is where grocery stores like Walmart and Pruett’s Foods are located.

Grab your coffee and get ready to plan your next vacay!

Places To Stay

Personally, I believe this type of vacation calls for staying in a cabin! There are soo many new cabins in Hochatown, and even some really luxurious ones. Airbnb helped us find the perfect one!

Blissful Bear:

This is the cabin that we stayed in, and it was perfect for the four of us. The cabin is nestled in the woods, making it even more cozy and peaceful.

Places To Eat

Hochatown Saloon: This restaurant is so stinking cute. It is set up just like an old time-y saloon, and the food was soo good! I really loved one of the drinks from the bar called “Pretty Boy Floyd”. On the weekends they have live music and the main floor turns into a dance floor after a certain time!

Foggy Bottom Kitchen: This restaurant is located in the Beavers Bend State park, and was our absolute favorite place to eat. The restaurant overlooks a river view, and they even have outdoor seating. Their food was the best in Hochatown from our opinions!

Grateful Head: This pizzeria and tap room is one of the more famous places to eat in Broken Bow. They have really yummy pizza and the atmosphere is very kid friendly.

The Blue Rooster: This place is super good as well. We focused on trying the other new places around Hochatown this trip, but this restaurant was one of our favorites from the last time we visited.

Things To Do

Kayaking: Kayaking was so fun! The link takes you to the exact place we used for kayaking, and we chose to do a four mile route which took us about three hours.

Hiking: We found a few trails to hike that took us through the rivers. It was actually such a good workout, but not too crazy! Haha!

Horse Back Riding: I wanted to do this soo bad, and will for sure make this a priority next time. My sister actually rode horses a few weeks ago when she visited Broken Bow and says she definitely recommends it. She let me know it was her favorite thing to do while there!

Swimming: Once the weather warms up, swimming is such a fun thing to do while in Broken Bow. The spillway near the dam has lots of small swimming holes that are perfect for floating around and swimming!

Wineries and Breweries: I linked both the winery and brewery that we visited. The winery offered free wine tastings, and I bought a bottle to take home! The boys loved tasting the beer at the brewery, and we ate lunch there from the food truck that they had. One of the more famous wineries in Hochatown is called “Girls Gone Wine” with a gift shop and winery combined.

Flea Markets: We did not stop at any this time, but if you love shopping at small vintage stores and flea markets, they have a few super cute places like this one!

If you have been to Broken Bow, OK before, what were some of your favorite things to do as well as your favorite places to go!?
