Spring Fashion Mood Board: Why Your Wardrobe Will Benefit From Creating One!

by | Feb 22, 2022 | Fashion, Spring

One of my new favorite ways to get ready for a new season, plan my outfits for a vacation, or even decorate a room in the house, is a mood board! I am very visual, so seeing colors/textures/prints, etc.. collected on a piece of paper or even a digital canvas helps to keep me organized, and inspires creative thinking. Below you’ll find my very own spring mood board for 2022 dedicated to my spring wardrobe, plus tips for creating yours!

Vision For Spring Wardrobe 2022:

I begin with thinking of colors, textures, prints, and anything that makes me think of spring. This year, the color lavender has been on my mind, so I know I wanted to add pops of lavender into my wardrobe.

Begin Your Mood Board: Mood boards are made a plethora of ways, and finding a layout that works for you is part of the creative process. For my spring fashion mood board, I used Canva which offers mood board templates. These templates make it so easy to get started and create a jumpstart to organizing your inspirations.

Another way mood boards can be made is simply by grabbing a blank piece of copy paper, poster board, etc. if you prefer a physical piece of work!

Finding Inspiration: Pinterest, Unsplash, magazines, and books are just a few places inspiration can be found. What I have found works best when searching for inspiration on the internet, is searching for single words like “spring”, “flowers”, “neutral colors”, “Lavender”, and browse what pops up. From there, I copy and past inspiring images onto my blank Canva Canvas, and move/re-size each image to where I feel they fit best. Physical objects around your house, or even outside is also a great way to get inspirations if you are taking the physical mood board approach.

Why Mood Boards Are Beneficial, Specifically For Your Wardrobe: Speaking in terms of wardrobe benefits, mood boards are a great way to spark excitement for refreshing your collection. Many times when shopping for a new season or an updated wardrobe, it can be overwhelming and confusing to know where to start. Having a collage of inspiration images or objects jumpstarts ideas of what to shop for!

Balancing your wardrobe is another benefit of creating mood boards. Think about the layout, cohesiveness, and structure your mood board offers. When choosing pieces to add next to your wardrobe, you are able to reference back to your mood board and see what your collection is lacking, or has an abundance of. This allows for a well balanced collection of outfits that are versatile and easy to mix and match!

Organization also plays a role here. Mood boards offer a single place to organize your thoughts and inspirations for a new set of outfits and where they belong in your collection. From there, you are able to bring your board to life as you arrange your wardrobe for the new arrivals.
