A few weeks ago we took a much needed vacation to Pensacola, Florida. We decided to stay in Pensacola, yet we spent most of our week traveling to other hot spots like Destin, Seaside, and Perdido Key, FL. My parents, Konnor and I, and of course our little Mia, were the only ones in the family who hadn’t gone on a summer vacation! With school starting late August, we decided to head to the beach during the middle of September to dodge the heat (or so we thought) and enjoy a little getaway together. While the heat was still a battle, we ended up having lots of fun and took the week to focus on relaxing! Scroll on for a full recap of our trip from where we ate, where we stayed, and what all we did.
I am also linking the outfits I wore, which are ideal for fall time as well!

Where we Stayed
We picked the cutest townhouse Airbnb in Pensacola that offered a beach-y, home-y aesthetic and a pool! We had the hardest time finding a place to stay near/on the beach since Sept. is still a busy time for vacationing in FL. Since staying on the beach is what we prefer, we compromised by choosing a place with a pool to give a more beach like experience. Our Airbnb was located minutes from downtown, grocery stores, and about 20 mins from Pensacola beach.
Where we Explored
The first day we drove to Perdido Key, FL which is only 45 mins from Pensacola. Perdido Key is a very relaxed, quiet beach down that is ideal for anyone who is looking to visit the beach without the chaos of a popular tourist attraction. We dined at Ole Rive Grill which is apart of Flora Bama (a famous beach bar known for live music).
Our next spot we visited was Seaside, FL. My parents had never been to Seaside, so we ventured there to show them how beautiful all of the homes, shops, and towns are. Plus have them try the amazing coconut mojitos that the “Great Southern” restaurant makes!
Of course we spent time in Pensacola relaxing at the beach, hanging in the pool, and exploring the downtown area. I love the New Orleans vibe of their downtown area!
Our last adventure was to Destin where we went snorkeling for the first time. It was so neat!
Where we Ate
Every vacation we take, Konnor and I love seeking out new coffee shops to try. Our favorite by far was Coffee Guy in Pensacola. They roast their own beans and make their own syrups. We ended up grabbing coffee their pretty much daily!
My personal favorite restaurant we dined at was the Fish House in Pensacola. I loved the atmosphere and suggest sitting outside by the bay! The seafood was fantastic, as well as the drinks. We even got to take our glasses home as souvenirs. They aren’t your normal plastic cups, think tall beer style glasses instead!
Harry T’s in Destin was another great place to eat by the water. This restaurant is near the boat docs, so it was fun to see the huge boats going in and out. Their food mostly consists of seafood, and I chose the classic popcorn shrimp!
One place we did not end up going that I will most definitely try next time is McGuires Irish Pub in Pensacola. When looking online, this place looks so unique and fun. They are open until 2 am most nights, have live music, and their food looks super yummy!
After exploring a few different beach towns in Florida during our trip, I would say that my favorite spots were Perdido Key and Destin. I love the beach-y scene when vacationing to the coast, and would prefer to stay at one of those areas closer to the water next time! With that said, Pensacola is great and a more “normal” looking town if that makes sense, lol! The town is not crowded, and there are lots of places to eat, shop, and look around….Especially as you get closer to the public beach area. I prefer to see more palm trees and sand from our Airbnb when vacationing at the beach, so that is why I would vote to stay at the other two areas in the future.
Thanks for reading today, and let me know in the comments which towns in Florida are your favorite!
